Resident Visa for Mexico: Temporary and Permanent Residence
How Bangladeshi applicants can move to Mexico with a resident visa based on income or savings: what it costs, how it works, and what to prepare.
Am I eligible?Mexican immigration rules, income thresholds, fees, and consulate procedures change often. Amounts on this page are planning estimates, not official figures. Bangladeshi applicants must apply at the Mexican consulate or embassy that serves Bangladesh and book through the official SRE system. Confirm every detail on the official Mexican foreign ministry (SRE) and immigration institute (INM) websites before you spend money.

Common questions
Short answers.
Is this a tourist visa?
No. This is a resident visa for living in Mexico. For short visits, check separately whether Bangladeshi passport holders need a tourist visa or qualify for an entry exemption.
Can I work in Mexico?
Not automatically. A resident card can include work permission if you request it, or you can work remotely for foreign clients. Ask the consulate and an attorney which applies to you.
Can I skip temporary and go straight to permanent?
Yes, if you meet the higher income or savings amount, or have close family ties to a Mexican citizen or resident.
Can the rules change?
Yes. Mexico updates thresholds with the minimum wage each year, and consulates can change their checklists. Confirm with the official sources or a licensed Mexican immigration lawyer.
Cost estimate
Approximate government fees. The consular fee is in US dollars and the INM card fee is in Mexican pesos.
The INM card fee is set each year and differs by card type. Document costs and lawyer fees are estimates, not government fees. Flights, medical checks, housing, and living costs are not included. Confirm every amount on the official SRE and INM websites.
